Valve Audio Black Widow pre / power combination
A considerable step up from the integrated units, the Black Widow allows more design flexibility in that the pre amplifeier and power amplifier are housed in seperated enclosures. Not only is this a serious audiophile product when used with the stereo power amplifier, but go one step further and use two mono amplifiers for the ultimate in musical enjoyment at this price level.
The relatively small size of a Black Widow Monoblock makes it ideal for placement close to the speakers needing only short lengths of expensive good quality speaker cable. The inputs of these monoblocks make provision for both balanced and single ended connection from any high quality preamplifier.
Pre amplifier
The Black Widow pre-amplifier is a single ended design utilising 4 x 6922 tubes. The input stage consists of a differential design with cathode follower output configured for 0v DC output, enabling no capacitive coupling to output.

Stereo power amplifier
The Black Widow power amplifier is a dual mono design utilising a dual valve gain stage driving a MosFet output stage per channel. A seperate power supply per channel is employed. Power output is 250w per channel into 8 ohm. Current delivery improves on the integrated design.

Mono power amplifier
The Black Widow mono amplifier is a standard stereo unit converted to balanced bridge operation with the addition of a valve based differential input stage. This enables a delivery of 800w into 8 ohm. Provision is made for both single ended and balanced inputs.
